The Yamaha 750cc XV750 motorcycle was produced from 1981 thru 1996 and was the first air-cooled, V-twin cruiser, introduced by Yamaha. The original XV750 battery was the conventional YB16AL-A2 made by Yuasa. You were required to fill, charge and then cap the Yamaha Virago 750 battery prior to installation. Many still use this style of battery today, while some riders have decided they are tired with messing with acid and have upgraded to the new sealed MB16AU made by MotoBatt. It arrives fully charged and ready to use.

It is worth notating that the MB16AU sealed upgrade comes with a flat top. Some of the old bikes have a hold down strap that contours to the original shape of the conventional battery that has the dips. If your hold down is like this you will either need to change or modify the hold down to make use of the more powerful sealed AGM MotoBatt battery.

For the entire 15 years the XV750 was in production, the battery found in the bike never changed. This is unusual, but much appreciated! This means the following years are represented on this page for the 750 Virago: 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996.
