Battery Charger Desulfators can be divided into two electronic desulfation classes: Frequency based and Rapid Voltage Fluctuation. Currently none of the companies incorporating desulfation measures into their chargers utilize both techniques (Canadus Power Systems does combine both methods for their on board circuit deslufators, but they have no charging ability).

By far, frequency based chargers, such as PulseTech desulfators, are superior in preventing sulfation from occurring in the first place and extending the life of your batteries. However, the technique of adjusting the voltage amplitude and cycling time period has its benefits in that it can more quickly remove large areas of build-up. In layman's terms, voltage pulsing is akin to using a sludge hammer while frequency pulsing is like using a chisel. Both are useful. We prefer using the chisel from day one and do not list voltage based charger desulfators on this page.
