The PulseTech PowerPulse PP48L (AKA 735x048) is not a charger. This onboard device utilizes revolutionary ReNew-IT Pulse Technology™ to safely prevent the main cause of battery problems and failure: sulfation. Over time, the chemical reation of lead acid batteries, force sulfates to leave their liquid state, adhere to and build up on the lead battery plates. This build-up of sulfur inhibits the electrolyte from reacting with the plates and slowly kills your battery. The phrase my battery never seems to have the power it used to! is a common remark, that does not need to be uttered when you use a Power Pulse onboard desulfator. The PulseTech PP-48-L will prevent sulfation from occurring and can even reverse the effects and recondition batteries that have become sulfated.   • What Is Sulfation?

    Sulfation is the buildup of lead sulfate (PbSo4) crystals on your battery plates.

    Contrast image of built up of sulfate crystals on a battery.All lead acid batteries will suffer from the effects of sulfation. It is the unwanted byproduct of the natural double sulfate chemical reaction that generates electricity within the battery. When a battery is in use, the active material on your battery’s plates, lead and lead dioxide, react with the electrolyte or sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to generate electricity. During this process a thin layer of non-crystalline solid lead sulfate is deposited on the plates.

    During charging, this sulfate deposit is supposed to be converted back to lead dioxide and sulfuric acid restoring the battery back to its pre-discharged state. However, the process is not perfect. Incomplete charging or prolonged time left in a discharged state will convert the amorphous (non-crystalline) lead sulfate into a hardened crystalized form diminishing the ability of the battery to reach full charge.

  • I live off the grid and have 32 deep cycle batteries charged by solar panels, seasonal hydro and a generator. My system is 48V with Magnum inverters. Do you have anything like the XC100-P that would work to increase battery life?

    48 volt Series DiagramIt sounds like you want to prevent / remove the debilitating effects of sulfate in your batteries and would be best served with an on-board desulfator.

    The size of your battery bank may be best served by using 1 of 2 methods. A 36-48V High Powered Industrial Desulfator (BLS-36/48-Multi-F) made by Battery Life Saver or by breaking your system down into multiple sub-series and use the 12V or 24V units.

    Example a 48V system utilizing four 12 volt batteries could use four 12V Power Pulses or two 24V Power Pulses or one 48V unit.

  • I have two strings of 8 6v, 430ah, batteries in a series parallel configuration. 48 volts total voltage between the two strings and 860 amp hours total storage. Would i be better off using a pp-48-l per string of 8 or one bls-36/48-multi-f for the entire
    The BLS unit is designed to handle larger battery banks much more efficiently. However, both of the scenarios you describe have been used and I have not heard of any one being disappointed. The deciding factor could be that the BLS is American made and only one connection point vs. the PP-48 being made elsewhere and requiring two connection points.

  • i have 3 strings of 6 V batteries for a 24 V system. can i use the 48V PowerPlus system on a 24 V system?

    No. The highest voltage in your series is 24V. Your strings are connected together via a parallel connection which keeps the four 6V batteries in the 24 volt series at 24V.

    You will want to use the PP-24-L, BLS-24N or if your battery bank is larger the BLS-24/36-Multi-F

  • I have an 8 battery 48v golf cart that I leave unattended 5 to 6 months a year will this product be right for me? If not ,what do you suggest I use?

    Yes an onboard desulfator with help extend the life of your batteries. However, the way the question is phrased has me wondering if you believe this is a maintainer as well. It is not. If your charger does not maintain the battery, you may wish to consider the JAC0348 48 volt charge maintainer to help keep the batteries healthy in the off season.
