At Norton there has only ever been one 350CC machine, and that is the Norton Navigator. It was one of the last motorcycles designed specifically for racing. Norton had decided that the 250CC Jubilee could be much better and spent time making sure that its successor would be a winner. Norton addressed several issues that made the Navigator an all around better ride than the Jubilee. It was now able to corner much more efficiently and a lot of the vibration that riders had been complaining about in the Jubilee was reduced. An attempt was made in 1963 to improve on the Navigator. Norton bored out the the 350CC engine to 383CC and upgraded the electrical system to 12v and an electric start was added deeming the new model the Norton Electra 400. However, production was ceased 1965 because the Electra did not sell well and the larger engine size undid all of the effort put into reducing vibration.
