In the aftermarket, your Yuasa YTX14 battery (also known by stock code YUAM7RH4S) can be replaced with comparable brands that meet or exceed the standards set by Yuasa Battery, Inc. Yuasa is the #1 original equipment manufacturer of batteries for motorcycles, ATV's, motor scooters, snowmobiles and personal watercraft. This battery is used extensively throughout the motorcycle industry. It can be found in bikes made by Aprilia, BMW, Honda, Kawasaki,Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha to name a few. It is also found in a handful of motor scooters and a quite a few Four Wheeler's made by Honda. Impact Battery has replacement batteries that compare favorably on all or some of the most important metrics including price, CCA, AH, warranty and location of manufacture.

From what we have learned, Honda first introduced this size battery with their 1986 TRX350 ATV. Then in 1991 the big three motorcycle manufactures starting using this battery. Originally these machines probably utilized the -BS or Bottle Stock version of the YTX14 sized battery. The kind where you first need to add acid, charge and seal before installing. Now, you can purchase a sealed version and install the moment you receive the battery.

YTX14 vs YTX14H-BS

When it comes to physical size, there is no difference between these two batteries. Comparing the battery specs we can see that there has only been about a 15% upgrade in output performance. The 'H' version, which stands for high output, is known by stock code YUAM6RH4H. Its cold cranking amps (CCA) are listed at 240 while the amp hour capacity is listed at 12 Ah. The original Yuasa YTX14 battery has 210 CCA and the same capacity rating. There is a half pound increase in weight favoring the upgraded version and weighing in at 10.6 lbs.

Do You Know Your Cross-Reference?

The YTX14 part number is used by several brands including Moto Classic, Scorpion and MotoCross (stock code M7RH4S). Power Sonic uses the part number of PTX14. Kinetik, a division of Universal Power Group (UPG), uses the APTX14 (stock code 42017). This new SKU used by UPG replaces the old UTX14 part number. You can also find CTX14-BS used by Western Power Sports, also known as WPS, Yacht made by Himura and several other second tier brands.
