Buy MotoBatt Batteries for your Gold Wing!
The Motobatt MBTX20U has been featured in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) magazine, Wing World. The feature article titled, Wired Up, lists some 'must have' and useful electrical devices and accessories for all Gold Wing motorcycle owners. But when it was all said and done, the editors listed the MotoBatt MBTX20U (actually the MBTX20UHD which is the black version of the standard yellow colored MBTX20U battery) as a "complete...solid battery, [that] is the heart of your Gold Wing's electrical system." They went on to compliment the brand saying, "It has more than enough power to get the job done" when speaking of the batteries 310 cold cranking amps (CCA) and 21 amp hour capacity (AH).
There is More Than Just The MBTX20UHD
We agree, MotoBatt should be at the center of every bikes electrical system, not just the Honda Gold Wing! Their attention to squeezing high CCA and and high AH capacity into every battery is key to their success.

A question was posted over on Bob The Oil Guy regarding battery desulfators and whether or not they work. There were some interesting answers, much opinion and some real life examples of people using these devices. User 3311 must be a battery sales man as his response said "No they don't work. Electrical snake oil..." I would suggest the opposite is true.

I just answered a question about an airsoft battery at AirsoftForum.com from ShadowBandit12, and thought it was worth sharing.
Question: My KWA G36C has not been holding the battery's charge lately. It's not every time I charge. But others, the battery doesn't even make it through the first game. I have a smart charger and a 9.6 battery for it, and I use the smart charger to charge it. I don't know if this is due to bad connections when being charged, or something wrong with my gun. Also, the charger makes a weird noise that it did not before I started having this problem. When the battery doesn't charge it almost instantly starts die, but sometimes it works fine. I have even tried getting a new 9.6v battery. but it still did the same thing. Any suggestions about what's going wrong?
My Thoughts: I would check your charger with a voltmeter and the wire connections in the gun. Your Airsoft battery is either being shorted out in the gun, or the charger is not working and is not charging

I just answered a Tenergy Battery question at AirsoftSociety.com from ncbairsoftteam, and I thought it was worth sharing.
Question: Is a 8.4v 1100 mAh Tenergy battery any good? I already have the 9.6v 1500 mAh, this would just be a back up.
My Thoughts: The batteries made by Tenergy are great batteries. In your case you will notice the rate of fire compared to your 9.6V will be slower, but that is because you reduced voltage. The battery will probably seem like it is lasting about the same length of time even though it is 400mAh less capacity. This is due to the drop in voltage as well.

The Mysterious 'T' shaped Honda Shadow Battery
This peculiar battery was first introduced in 1983 in the HONDA VT750C Shadow Bike. It defied the traditional rectangular shape with a front profile that looked like the letter T. The original Honda Shadow Battery part number was the HYB16A-AB. It was a wet battery with a vent tube, 150 Cold Cranking Amps and capacity of 16 Ampre Hour. This Honda Shadow battery is found more readily in various VT1100 series motorcycles from 1985 through 2000. It must be noted that not all of the VT1100 bikes use this T shaped battery so it is important to check the exact model and year. It can be confusing. The advent of the sealed lead acid and advanced AGM battery has created a bit of confusion as to which battery can be used with or is required in these Honda Shadow motorcycles. Many forum posts on HondaShadow.net and other fan favorites have made reference to which battery should be used...sadly some are leading their buddies astray. We will attempt to

Lead-acid Batteries
Although lead-acid batteries have many disadvantages when compared to other types of batteries, these types of batteries are among the most common batteries on the planet. One of the major reasons for the prevalence of lead-acid batteries is their ability to be recharged multiple times. The internal reaction that creates electricity is reversible, allowing a spent battery to be restored to a functional state over and over.
Over time, however, lead-acid batteries lose their ability to hold a charge. This gradual loss of charging capacity is due to a process called sulfation. While discharging, the lead dioxide plates within the battery react with the sulfuric acid electrolyte, causing lead sulfate to build up on the plates. As lead sulfate builds up within the battery, it loses its ability to provide electricity. When the battery charges, the voltage of the charging mechanism causes the lead sulfate to return to its original state. Over repeated charges, however, some of these lead sulfate deposits crystallize and harden, making them hard to remove. These crystallized deposits interfere with the battery's operation, making the battery harder to charge. Eventually, the sulfate deposits

I tend to be outspoken when something just rubs me wrong. I get to a point where I can't keep my mouth shut and feel obligated to share the irritating news as well as the little known truth that makes the story so disturbing. This particular annoyance involves the 12V 35Ah battery. We sell bunches of these mainly to elderly people installing them into their mobility scooters. It is a very popular battery and it fits 60-75% of most scooters (our version is by Universal Power Group; SKU number is UB12350. There are many good brands to choose from besides ours). Here is the rub that got me angry. I discovered that certain companies (that sell heavily on Amazon) offer these batteries at steeply discounted prices. In-and-of-itself, that is not the issue. The fact is, these example UB12350 batteries are often several years old and were sold to these companies at steeply

Purchasing a motorcycle is an exciting opportunity to take on a new hobby, but understanding maintenance issues is a must. One component that is key in keeping a motorcycle in good working condition is the motorcycle battery.
How Does a Motorcycle Battery Work?
A motorcycle battery is made up of six separate cells that each contain 2.1 volts. The total voltage of a battery in a motorcycle is 12.6 volts, and each of the cells in the battery includes positive and negative components that are exposed to a sulfuric acid solution.
The battery goes through a chemical reaction that converts the chemical energy in the battery into electrical energy that can be used to power the motorcycle.
Average Life of a Motorcycle Battery
Battery life varies depending on maintenance issues, but motorcyclists can increase the life of their bike's battery by regularly recharging it.

Battery Prices, Honda Shadow Bikes and the YTZ14S
[caption id="attachment_1481" align="alignright" width="300"] "adlowe's" 1999 Honda Shadow bike displayed on HondaShadow.net[/caption]
I was reading a forum thread regarding pricing for the YTZ14S over on HondaShadow.net and thought I would share some thoughts. In January 2010, Jan Janowski originally commented on when she could remember the YTZ14S Honda Shadow battery being $70. I had to chuckle, because it reminded me of when a container of motorcycle batteries cost between $60,000 and $80,000. The inflationary prices of 2008 sure did a number on cost as lead prices sky rocketed. Now a container costs between $90,000 and $110,000. But interestingly enough, when I peaked at some of our 750CC Shadow prices, I found them to low. The UTZ14S Adventure Power battery, we offer it for $83. And the under-rated-never-an-issue MotoBatt MBTX9U for $67.95.
The 1100CC Shadow bikes that use the acid fill 'T' shape battery (HYB16A-AB) still sell
