Especially designed for use with 48 volt electric vehicles such as golf carts, including Yamaha and Club Car. Ideally mounted permanently to keep the batteries in optimum condition and extend battery life. The system should be charged regularly as this BLS unit does use a small amount of battery power to operate. Can be used to rejuvenate batteries that have become sluggish. Comes with 3/8" eye rings for attachment to the battery terminals. On/Off switch and low-voltage cutoff included.

The BLS-48B has been combined into the BLS-48N. The new 'N' version will do everything the 'B' and 'N' units did separately. Don't worry we will send the latest version so you will not miss out on any upgrade.

  • What Is Sulfation?

    Sulfation is the buildup of lead sulfate (PbSo4) crystals on your battery plates.

    Contrast image of built up of sulfate crystals on a battery.All lead acid batteries will suffer from the effects of sulfation. It is the unwanted byproduct of the natural double sulfate chemical reaction that generates electricity within the battery. When a battery is in use, the active material on your battery’s plates, lead and lead dioxide, react with the electrolyte or sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to generate electricity. During this process a thin layer of non-crystalline solid lead sulfate is deposited on the plates.

    During charging, this sulfate deposit is supposed to be converted back to lead dioxide and sulfuric acid restoring the battery back to its pre-discharged state. However, the process is not perfect. Incomplete charging or prolonged time left in a discharged state will convert the amorphous (non-crystalline) lead sulfate into a hardened crystalized form diminishing the ability of the battery to reach full charge.

  • I just purchased the BLS-48N. It was easy to connect. I did not permanently mount the unit under the golf cart seat. It is connected properly and rides on top of the batteries. Can I leave it there?
    As long as it does not move around or allow wires to cross or short out terminals it is fine to not mount the unit and leave sitting in a secure position. It will operate the same either way. There will be some heat generated and it would be wise to include an insulated layer between the battery and the desulfator.
