  • What causes a new battery to fail shortly after installation?
If a battery performs well after installation, but quickly loses its power, check the condition of the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Make sure there is not a constant drain on the battery (such as a light left on). Also, check the charging system to make sure the battery is recharged properly after use.

  • "Capacity Amp Hours" Can you tell me more about this?
Capacity Amp Hours or simply Amp Hours is the specified storage capacity of the battery at a given rate of discharge most commonly measured in 10 hr. or 20 hour rates. It allows you to compare apples to apples. But in essence the higher the amp or capacity the longer it will last between charges.

  • What is the difference between a deep cycle battery and a starting battery?
Deep cycle batteries are designed to deliver energy over a long period of time, for devices such as RV and boating appliances, lights, winches, stereo or other accessories when the engine is not running. Starting batteries deliver a large burst of power for a short amount of time, primarily used to start the engine of a vehicle.

  • How long does it take to fully recharge a battery while driving?
Many factors affect the amount of time to charge a battery while driving, such as engine speed, load (lights, radio, windshield wipers, etc.), temperature, and condition of the battery. Driving at least 30 minutes at a constant speed is generally enough to recover a battery from starting the engine, and 60 minutes or more to fully charge a battery.

  • What is the best way to prolong battery life?
Heat is an enemy of batteries, which cannot always be avoided. Storing batteries in hot areas will drastically shorten the life of the battery. Once a battery is damaged by heat, its capacity cannot be restored. Battery life also depends on usage, and how well the battery is maintained over its life. Batteries should be connected to a smart battery charger for storage to maintain optimum performance and lifespan.

  • What is the difference between a GEL and AGM battery?
Gel batteries incorporate older technology than AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) batteries. The term โ€œGelโ€ is often mis-used to described all sealed lead acid batteries, including AGM batteries. Gel batteries are a type of sealed battery, but differ from AGM sealed batteries in several ways, including requiring a specific battery charging system. AGM batteries can be charged and maintained using regular battery chargers. The main difference between Gel and AGM batteries is the method in which the electrolyte is suspended in the battery. Gel batteries use a silica dust to turn the electrolyte into a gel, whereas AGM batteries use a glass mat to suspend the electrolyte - much like a sponge.

  • Why is my 12 volt battery reading 13 Volts?
All 12V lead acid batteries (Gel, AGM, flooded, drycell, etc) are made up of a series of 2.2 volt cells that are bridged together in series. The term 12 volt is approximate, as six fully charged cells actually measures 13.2 volts at the terminals.

  • Can a dead battery be restored?
Most battery failures are permanent and cannot be reversed. Even if a depleted battery can be recharged, it is not likely to perform well or hold a charge. If a battery is damaged by excessive heat or a complete discharge, the capacity cannot be restored.

  • So I have a 99 Chevy blazer 4.3 vortex and it's battrie is a group 78 would the 34/78 work well ?
Possibly. Despite being the same physical size, the 78 has front mount terminals and the 34 has top mount terminals. Since you have front mount terminals there is a possibility there is not enough clearance above the battery to allow for the dual terminal post. Sometimes it has to be one or the other. Sometimes you can take advantage of having both top and front terminals. You really just need to look at your setup to see if it could work.

  • Greetings I need to replace the battery on my Honeywell Portable generator. Looking at your picture I can not see the terminals to well, I need the (-) to the left and the (+) to the right. Please let me know if that is the case.

No need to worry about polarity with the MBTX9U...it has QuadFlex technology and the polarity is always correct! There are four terminal locations on the battery, one side will be opposite to what you need and the other side will be correct.

The article titled "GTZ14S GENERATOR BATTERY DILEMMA" which is linked to near the top of this page has the following quote concerning this battery. "[We] guarantee it will be compatible...so you do not need to worry about standard / non-standard JIS polarity issue!"

  • What happens to recycled lead-acid batteries?
Recycled lead-acid batteries are crushed into small pieces and the plastic is separated from the lead. The plastic is sent to a reprocessor and turned into new plastic products. The lead is sent to battery manufacturers and other industries. A typical lead-acid battery contains 60 to 80 percent recycled lead and plastic.

  • Will this fit my 2006 dodge ram srt10 truck

From what I can see in our books the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT 10 8.3L pickup uses a Group 65 battery not the Group 31. If your question refers to if their is enough space to fit a 31, our answer is we don't know; we haven't tried it, as we don't have one. The best we can do is provide the dimensions of each for you to consider (L x W x H):

    Group 65 - 11.76 x 7.32 x 7.42

    Group 31 - 12.91 x 6.77 x 9.25

  • Will this replacement battery work with Polaris RZR900 as the only number I see is C20 12AH and is there a battery already in the blue case as I'm not sure how to remove current battery from blue case without breaking side strips?

Let me answer by breaking down you question into its three parts:

Q1.Will this replacement battery work with Polaris RZR900 as the only number I see is C20 12AH?

A1. Yes the battery you are looking at is a replacement for Peg Perego 12V 12AH kits. It will be of the same dimensions but better output and fits inside the protective blue case.

Q2. Is there a battery already in the blue case?

A2. Yes we stock two replacement battery kits which include the battery, wire harness and blue case. One is 12V 12AH and the other is 12V 15AH. Both are the same dimensions and the 15AH will run about 25% longer between charges.

Q3. How to remove current battery from blue case without breaking side strips?

A3. For detailed instructions read our tutorial on how to do this. But the short answer is carefully slide a flat head screwdriver between the battery and side strip and raise it to the top. Give it a good pop to force the one-way rivet out of the handle hole.

  • How are the for battery post setup on battery? The pictures don't show the top. Thanks

The battery has four threaded inserts; one on each corner of the battery. The picture shows a top profile with the terminals attached to the front set of threads. In this picture, there are no terminals attached on the back side. You can only see the top of the cutout where the terminal would be attached.

You can purchase an extra set of terminals, part number MPT2, or you can attach your accessories on the back threads using a standard screw set to the length you require depending on the number of eyelets you have attached.

  • Are these batteries OK being left on a regular trickle charger?

The term Trickle Charger is from the 60's and is often used generically to mean float charger or smart charger. A true trickle charger can actually cause harm to your batteries, but if it is a smart charger that drops into a float stage then it is 100% OK to be left on the batteries.

  • How long do you charge batteries?
This is a loaded question as there are no identifiers. We would need to know several pieces of information first such as: What chemistry makeup is the battery (sealed lead acid, conventional lead acid, NiMH, etc.), What is the size of the battery in milli-amps or amp hour capacity, and what is the type of charger you have to use.Batteries are not all created equal and require specific charge parameters to re-charge safely and to extend the longevity of the battery.
