APE CAR

The Vespa Ape, also referred to as the Vespacar or Tricar, was a key part of the post WWII rebuilding of Italy. It was essentially a Vespa scooter converted to a tricycle format so they could mount a small flatbed on the back. It was a vastly cheaper alternative to regular delivery trucks or even a pickup truck. The Vespa Ape has been in continuous production since it was introduced in 1948. Today the "car" has an enclosed cab for the driver, and is a first choice for street vendors as the standard flat bed makes a great base for a custom built "food truck" with a unique look that draws the attention of customers.
