The DLS-55-IQ4 battery charger/power converter from IOTA Engineering converts nominal 120V A.C. voltage to 13.4V D.C. This unit will draw 12AC amps or about 1430VA. As a power supply, its tightly controlled regulation allows the user to operate any appropriate nominal D.C. load up to the converter’s rated output current. As a battery charger, the DLS-55 will maintain the battery, delivering its full-rated current when the battery capacity falls sufficiently low. The voltage is set to deliver its maximum current for the necessary period of time that minimizes undue stress to the battery caused by heating of its cells. This helps to ensure the longest possible life of the battery. Over time, as the battery nears its full capacity, the converter will float-charge the battery to prevent self-discharge of its cells.

The DLS-55 plug type on the AC cord is determined by the input voltage and ratings of this DLS model and/or UL specifications. The DLS-55 uses the NEMA 5-15 plug for 15A receptacle (see image provided).

The DLS-55 Power Converter/Battery Charger from IOTA Engineering converts nominal 108-132 AC voltage to 13.4 DC voltage for both DC load operation and 12V battery charging. Using state-of-the-art, switch-mode technology , IOTA Power Converter/Battery Chargers are engineered with the user and variable environmental conditions in mind. Extra care has been given to insure many years of service-free operation, even when subjected to extremely harsh conditions. Batteries are charged quickly and efficiently without over-charging and pumps, motors, and fans operate perfectly for prolonged life. Exceptionally clean DC output insures pumps, motors, fans, and lights work perfectly. This means longer life for any connected load; virtually no AC ripple to cause static or premature failure of radio or television equipment. Quickly and efficiently charges batteries from the full rated output of the IOTA battery charger. The battery charger then maintains the batteries, only putting into the battery what is required by load or self-discharge, cutting back to milliamps as the battery requires. Protection against low and transient AC line voltage as well as spikes coming from the AC power source or from improperly adjusted generators, a major cause of converter/power supply failure. Meets F.C.C. criteria, minimizing radio and television equipment interference especially on the lower frequency bands Can be used with or without a battery When used as a converter/power supply, the IOTA power converter will only supply what is required by the load. This keeps pumps, motors, and lights working at the correct voltage even during brown-out situations. Proportional Fan Circuitry provides an extra measure of protection. During times of heavy load demands, the automatic circuitry will activate the fan before thermal stress can occur on any internal components.   • Will one converter charge two 12 volt batteries in a series?

    Yes you can use one DLS-27 series IOTA converter to charge two 12V batteries in series (24V). The current item you are asking about is only good for 12 volt configurations (i.e. one large 12V battery or two or more 12V batteries tied together in parallel).

    The DLS-2740 is the largest amperage model, while the DLS2725 would be the closest comparable 24V unit to the DLS-55.
