Chances are if you are looking for a YTZ12S battery then you probably own a Honda vehicle. Yuasa first made this JIS battery size for Honda around year 2000. Internally, Honda refers to this battery by the following part number: 31500-KB4-673AH. The battery fits a bunch of moped scooters and Honda motorcycles including the NSS250 Reflex, Big Ruckus, SilverWing, Super Hawk, VT750 Shadow, VFR800 Interceptor.RIGHT_SIDEBAR_CONTENT
YTZ12S vs. YTZ14S
Did you know that both of these batteries are of the same physical size? There are two distinct but minor differences--Cold Cranking Amps and Amp Hour Capacity. The TZ14S has 11.2 amps instead of 11 amps and 220 CCA instead of 200 CCA. That 10% difference in CCA means you should be able to use these batteries interchangeably. You can definitely use the 14S in place of the 12S! In fact, Moto Classic figured it out and combined the two part numbers into one battery, the YTZ14/12S.
Do You Know Your Cross-Reference?
The YTZ12S part number is used by several brands including Scorpion and MotoCross (stock code M7212A). Power Sonic uses the part number of PTZ12S. Kinetik, a division of Universal Power Group (UPG), uses the APTZ12S (stock code 46036). This new SKU used by UPG replaces the old UTZ12S part number. You can also find CTZ12S used by Western Power Sports, also known as WPS, and Yacht made by Himura.
