To date, there is only one true Power Wheels application that came with this battery: Thomas with Track model HHP26
This black NiMH battery (part no. 3900-8218 / model no. 1102822518) is very similar to the blue lead-acid battery part number 00801-1457. Both are a 6V battery made by Fisher-Price for Power Wheels branded toddler sized ride-on toys. Both use the exact same toy connector. And both are near identical in physical size. The difference is in the chemistry of the battery and how they charge back up.
So, yes, this battery can be used in older versions that use the 00801-1457 battery. However, you will need to start using the updated 5V 1A USB micro-A charge port.
