The PulseTech XC100-P Xtreme battery charger, also known by part number 100x010, charges, maintains and removes lead sulfate crystals from the battery. Fully charges up to car sized batteries and maintains larger deep cycle type batteries.

Evaluation and Test
Xtreme Charge®’s unique TEST feature evaluates the battery thoroughly during the initial connection to determine the appropriate charge rate based on its size and condition. It tests the battery continually for as long as it is connected to the charger to maintain the optimal bulk or float charge rate. This TEST step incorporates a “Bad Battery” indication if it determines the battery is faulty and cannot be re-charged.

Maintenance and Bulk Charge
The PulseTech XC100-P Xtreme battery charger is designed to be a maintenance charger for any type of 12-V lead-acid battery. By imposing only the appropriate amount charge rate, the battery is maintained safely at its proper operating voltage indefinitely. Conversely, if the charger is connected to a discharged battery, its bulk charge capability (2.5 A actual/5 A effective) will re-charge the battery rapidly and safely so it can be put back into service quickly. Proprietary Charge Algorithms A proprietary computer-integrated technology measures both voltage and current to determine the appropriate amount of charge the battery is able to accept at any given time. As the pulse and saturation charges improve the battery’s condition, the charge rate may be increased safely to an optimal level. This proprietary algorithm protects the battery from the risk of damage due to overcharging.

Variable Float Charge
PulseTech®’s intelligent circuitry imposes the correct amount of charge rate as determined by the continual evaluation of the battery’s condition. The charge rate may be as minimal as 0.2 A during typical float up to the full 2.5 A for more deeply discharged batteries. This variable float charge ensures optimal charge rate is applied to the battery.

Patented Pulse Technology
PulseTech’s unique and patented Pulse Technology increases the duty and life cycles of any size or type of 12-V lead-acid battery by minimizing the size of the lead sulfate crystals. This allows a battery to accept as much charge as possible. Th technology in the PulseTech XC100-P Xtreme battery charger helps ensure that your new batteries will stay in like new condition while older batteries often improve dramatically. Duty cycles are typically extended from three to five times for all types of lead-acid batteries! Xtreme battery chargers are ideally suited for AGM and maintenance-free batteries (from less than 10 Ah to over 150 Ah depending on whether you are charging or simply maintaining). The combination of patented pulse technology and proprietary charging algorithm typically allows it to charge these high-performance batteries more fully. The PulseTech XC100-P also maintains a safe charge profile for traditional batteries including flooded, fill and charge and gel.

  • I live off the grid and have 32 deep cycle batteries charged by solar panels, seasonal hydro and a generator. My system is 48V with Magnum inverters. Do you have anything like the XC100-P that would work to increase battery life?

    48 volt Series DiagramIt sounds like you want to prevent / remove the debilitating effects of sulfate in your batteries and would be best served with an on-board desulfator.

    The size of your battery bank may be best served by using 1 of 2 methods. A 36-48V High Powered Industrial Desulfator (BLS-36/48-Multi-F) made by Battery Life Saver or by breaking your system down into multiple sub-series and use the 12V or 24V units.

    Example a 48V system utilizing four 12 volt batteries could use four 12V Power Pulses or two 24V Power Pulses or one 48V unit.

  • What is a Desulfator?

    A desulfator is a device that when attached to a lead acid battery will clean the internal plates. They remove hardened sulfate crystals that have built up as a result of sulfation (see: What is Sulfation?). True desulfators use a pulse frequency to desolve these crystals vs. the less effective voltage pulse

  • What Is Sulfation?

    Sulfation is the buildup of lead sulfate (PbSo4) crystals on your battery plates.

It is the unwanted byproduct of the natural double sulfate chemical reaction that generates electricity within the battery. When a battery is in use, the active material on your battery’s plates, lead and lead dioxide, react with the electrolyte or sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to generate electricity. During this process a thin layer of non-crystalline solid lead sulfate is deposited on the plates.

    During charging, this sulfate deposit is supposed to be converted back to lead dioxide and sulfuric acid restoring the battery back to its pre-discharged state. However, the process is not perfect. Incomplete charging or prolonged time left in a discharged state will convert the amorphous (non-crystalline) lead sulfate into a hardened crystalized form diminishing the ability of the battery to reach full charge.

    No there is NOT going to be a negative effect. You can leave this charger connected to a battery forever without causing harm. It drops down into a float mode which monitors and maintains the battery at full charge.

  • Could this device be used for Camry Hybrid battery cells which is about 8V?
    No. This desulfating charger is for 12V lead acid based batteries.

  • Have 2 100 amp batteries on my motor home. will one xc100p charge and de-sulfate them both at the same time during off season?
    This charger can maintain those batteries at a full charge and desulfate them, but it is two small to use as your primary charger.

  • Will this work on a 230 volt 50htz supply without any problems

    Yes it can work with 220V input. However, if you intend to use it outside North America where the power grid is not as reliable and experiences power fluctuations you will want to use the modified version which has an added dampener to protect the charger from voltage spikes.
