Logo for the Battery Partners programEnergy Products initiated the Battery Partners program in January of 2016. Their goal is to advance the business of all Battery Specialists by being a single source mixed product supply chain solution. Terry McGee, the SLI Division Manager for the Battery Partners program summed it up this way, “We are not just a shop trying to sell you something. We work with you, our partners, to provide solutions to take your business to the next level.”

The customer centric culture within Energy Products fits with how we at Impact Battery strive to do business and serve our customers. If the first annual Battery Fest was a small taste of what Battery Specialist like us can expect as we partner together, then I think our customers and staff will enjoy what the future holds.

I have to be honest; if you asked me what I thought of Detroit a few months ago, I would have said it brings images to mind of what has gone wrong with urban America. Since January I have made several trips to the Motor City. Now after attending the first annual Battery Fest September 18th and 19th I was able to see firsthand the progress and change occurring within the Detroit metro area. Not only were we able to see Energy Products beautifully renovated 110,000 sq. ft. headquarters, we were able to witness a revitalization happening throughout the city. (Although, Michigan, it’s time to fix your roads and complete the road projects that have dragged on forever. Yikes.) Energy Products, and companies like them, that focus on the positive culture within to bring change and progress to those around them will go a long way to revitalizing the region.

Battery Partners Harley Davidson WinnerEnergy Products knows how to throw a party! The weekend was great. We were treated like royalty and had the privilege of experiencing accommodations and facilities we do not get to otherwise have the pleasure of enjoying. The laid back approach mixing formal and casual relaxed atmosphere was unique and advantageous. It allowed for dealers and vendors to interact and engage each other on a professional and personal level. The giveaways and food were bountiful. Tri State Battery Inc won a brand new Harely Davidson motorcycle!

There were around 40 vendors from names like Leoch and Power Sonic on the SLA Battery end of the business to MotoBatt (via their motobattbatteries.com distributor) who are a premium power sport battery manufacturer. East Penn (Deka), Trojan, US Battery and NorthStar led the way for large deep cycle and automotive batteries. While Noco, PulseTech, IOTA Engineering and Associated Products were highlights from the charger side of the market.

We were introduced to new technologies and companies such as Ecovolt which addresses the stratification of lead acid batteries and the acceleration of nominal capacity loss brought on by modern electrical systems. Their patented Bridge and Pier Technology helps eliminate overcharging by dispersing heat throughout the battery. The mixing of the acid means there will be less plate corrosion. But more importantly it increases the number of cycles by more than 2x that of conventional SLI batteries and maximizes cold cranking amps.

Hearing this for the first time had my brain spinning. What if this battery technology was combined with regular use of a desulfating charger such as the XC100-P by PulseTech or the 128CEC by BatteryMINDer? Since these chargers help extend battery life 2-3x longer would the combination of a corrosion reducing battery and a frequency desulfating charger mean one could extend battery life 4-6x times longer? I am not quite sure if the effect would be multiplied but even if it were magnified ever so slightly this could be a game changer for fleet operators and individual battery owners!

IOTA Engineering had three representatives at the show and I was able to spend extra time chatting with them Monday evening while we enjoyed our 3 hour dinner cruise up and down the Detroit River aboard the Ovation. They have a new solid state battery charger line referred to as the SDC series that improves upon the very successful DLS converter charger series. We are excited to be able to distribute these commercial grade units that come in 12V and 24V and range from 15A to 90A.

If you are a Battery Specialist (dealer or even a wholesaler) you should consider calling upon the Battery Partners to fulfill all of your battery and charger requirements. They can ship direct to you or your customer individual SKUs are entire truck loads. Be sure to tell Matt that Darren over at Impact Battery sent you. We will get you a little “welcome to the family” gift. For what it is worth, it is FREE to apply and costs you nothing! The Partners Program will open up new opportunities and help you reach the next level.
