Why would you want to bypass your Club Car onboard computer? Ingersoll Rand Corporation, the makers of Club Car, started using an on-board computer (OBC) on their 48 volt golf carts and electric vehicles as early as 1995. When you plug the charger into your golf cart, the OBC will tell the battery charger when to start and stop charging based on the voltage levels in your batteries. Sounds like a good idea, right? In theory or in a perfect world this utilization of technology makes perfect sense. However, the world is not perfect and this particular arrangement leaves many in the golfing world left wanting.
The Background for 'Why'
Here is the #1 complaint. Regardless the brand of charger selected if you do not bypass the OBC, one of two Club Car charging problems will happen. For 2006 and newer Club Car models the attached non-OEM charger will not be able to recognize the voltage on the battery bank and in turn will not commence charging. For older models the attached charger will become

ImpactBattery.com and several of our Goal Zero solar panel and battery products were featured on a segment of Living In Style called "I Gotta Have That". Hosted by Rhonda Castagna, the segment shows how cool and functional it is to use these Goal Zero products and underscored (not in a scary way) how easy it is to have them available in the case of unforeseen disasters like Hurricane Sandy, earthquakes and similar events.
We love these products because they are fun and easy to use for daily living, like when we go camping in our pop-top tent trailer (or even without) and do not have electrical hookups. Check this out:

A futuristic concept called “reverse electrowetting” could change the way we recharge cell phones and other portable devices, but don’t look for it anytime soon.
Engineers are working on a new method to harvest the mechanical energy in our day-to-day strides, meaning they are looking at shoes to serve as a source for powering portable gadgets. The concept would utilize a micro-fluidic device consisting of thousands of micro-droplets that move past a nanotechnology-based film. The motion of the droplets would then be converted into an electric current. The idea is that you would have the energy to power devices whenever you choose to take a “power walk.”
Creators envision equipping special footwear with tiny mobile hotspots that are powered by the electricity-generating shoes. Researchers say in theory the shoes could generate up to 20 watts of electrical power.
While this additional convenience may sound appealing, it will have a long way to go before it is actually on shoe (or electronics)

Why do batteries get old and fail, and is there any way to avoid this? While it would be amazing to have a battery that will last the lifetime of your device or equipment, the truth is that no battery lasts forever. The key cause is sulfation.
Sulfation occurs when the electrolyte solution begins to break down. Sulfur in the solution essentially leaches from the electrolyte and sticks to the lead plates as converted lead sulfuric crystals. These crystals coat the plates and prevent them from doing their job the next time you power up. At the same time, the electrolyte solution becomes weaker because it then lacks the sulfuric acid that has converted to crystals, which then interferes with the ability of the battery to accept, hold and deliver a charge.
Stage One of sulfation may be an initial form that reduces quick starting but will be absorbed back into the electrolyte when charged. With more time, sulfation progresses and a battery may require a greater charge. The final stage is when
