Recreational vehicle owners will need an RV battery to provide their vehicle with power. RV batteries are lead acid devices that have a number of cells that manufacturers attach in a series. A cell emits about 2.1 volts of power. Therefore, a battery with 12 volts will feature six cells to produce 12.6 volts. Battery manufacturers make lead acid batteries from plates, lead and lead oxide. The elements are combined in an electrolyte substance that is a mixture of 64 percent water and 36 percent sulfuric acid. Keep in mind that lead acid batteries store electricity instead of creating it. Furthermore, the amount of charge that the power source can hold is based upon the size of the lead plates along with the electrolyte volume.

The best way to successfully navigate rough waters is to avoid them in the first place, but that isn't always possible. Storms can roll in without warning, and it's all too easy for an unprepared boater to get caught in a terrible situation. If you must operate your vessel in rough waters, there are steps you can take beforehand that can save your life. It's also vital to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your vessel, know when to run for shore, and have the presence of mind to ride out a storm when that's the best option.

With the gradual shift to electric vehicles, demand for newer batteries that last longer and provide more power has risen sharply in the past decade. Current electric cars have less power than gasoline vehicles, and they are limited to round trips of just over 100 miles. New battery technologies may soon allow electric cars to drive up to five times that distance.

Most people don't spend much time thinking about their car's engine. While it's certainly possible to drive a car without understanding how its engine works, taking the time to learn about the mechanical processes involved in driving can give you greater appreciation for your vehicle. Motorcycle batteries often do not last as long as they should, and the reason for their short lifespans is generally poor maintenance. Because most people don't ride their motorcycles as frequently as they might drive their cars, motorcycles are more likely to go for long periods without being started. This leads to the motorcycle battery losing its charge. Fortunately, you can extend the life of your battery by understanding why batteries lose their charge and how to keep your own motorcycle battery healthy.

People are hanging onto their cars longer than they ever have before. If you're anything like the average driver, you probably own a vehicle that is over 10 years old and has more than 100,000 miles on the odometer. That used to seem like a lot, but a properly maintained vehicle may still be on the road well beyond 200,000 miles.
