Yes Impact Battery is Still in Business!
Impact Battery was founded in Oregon towards the end of 2009 and was first accredited by the Northwest BBB in 2011 before transferring primary operations to Kentucky in January 2013. At which time the Central & Eastern Kentucky BBB took over the accreditation and listing. Each of the regional Better Business Bureaus are independently operated and this has caused a great deal of confusion for our customers!
When we left the NW region they placed a note on the top of their listing in bright red capitol letters stating: IMPACT BATTERY IS BELIEVED TO BE OUT OF BUSINESS! We informed them of the move to KY and provided documentation that we were still very much a thriving entity that had simply moved. We requested they remove the false and misleading information. They did not. The Eastern KY bureau also reached out and asked them to better represent the situation. They still did not. After much discussion, the NW BBB finally added a footnote to the bottom of the page which reads:
“According to information provided by Impact Battery, this company has moved out of Oregon. Questions or concerns may be directed to…For the company's BBB Business Review, visit www.bbb.org/lexington/business-reviews/battery-charging-equipment/benevolence-group-in-irvine-ky-9108312.”
However, hardly anyone reads down the page far enough to come across this pertinent information! How hard would it be to adjust the note at the top of the page to say something like “Impact Battery has moved out of our service area. Please visit their KY BBB listing.”
The most interesting aspect of this whole ordeal is that there is no where you can lodge a complaint against the BBB. We inquired about doing so 2 years into this saga and were laughed at! We again inquired to our local branch just prior to writing this article and they hesitated and said they did not believe we could. But to their credit they did say they would contact the NW branch again and try to reason with them. The Kentucky office empathized with us and could only imagine what it is like to be told you are out of business when you are obviously not.
Why did we feel we needed to share this with customers? For the simple reason that we are a thriving and growing business! But perhaps more importantly, we felt compelled to share this because the NW BBB website ranks near the top of Google for those looking for information on Impact Battery. It has been nearly four years since the transition and we are tired of customers telling us they thought we were out of business.
To clear up any confusion: YES WE ARE IN BUSINESS. AND YES WE PLAN TO STAY IN BUSINESS.
