I was reading a forum thread regarding pricing for the YTZ14S over on HondaShadow.net and thought I would share some thoughts. In January 2010, Jan Janowski originally commented on when she could remember the YTZ14S Honda Shadow battery being $70. I had to chuckle, because it reminded me of when a container of motorcycle batteries cost between $60,000 and $80,000. The inflationary prices of 2008 sure did a number on cost as lead prices sky rocketed. Now a container costs between $90,000 and $110,000. But interestingly enough, when I peaked at some of our 750CC Shadow prices, I found them to low. The UTZ14S Adventure Power battery, we offer it for $83. And the under-rated-never-an-issue MotoBatt MBTX9U for $67.95.

The 1100CC Shadow bikes that use the acid fill 'T' shape battery (HYB16A-AB) still sell for $70, however MotoBatt has developed a 'T' shaped sealed lead acid battery with a 2 year warranty and higher specs selling for $102 before discount codes. The YTZ14S is often used as a sealed substitute since it is the same size as the top of the 'T' found on the original battery. It has similar power to the MotoBatt and more power than the original wet battery. I would not recommend using a MBTX9U as a replacement for the HYB16A-AB even though it can replace the TZ14S. You will have better results using the MB16A 'T' shaped upgrade.

The Honda Shadow motorcycle is iconic and occupies many garages across the USA. It has traveled millions of miles on America's highways and byways.
