Power Wheels Batteries

As an Authorized Power Wheels Service Center, we thought it would be helpful to provide a detailed list matching toy models to the correct battery.

You see, Mattel has licensed the Barbie trademark for its Power Wheels line since the toys were first created in the early 80’s. They make a small 6-volt Power Wheels battery for their Fisher-Price preschool Barbie toys. A larger 6-volt dual Barbie battery for the advanced pre-school line. And two different 12-volt batteries for the older kid’s toys.

Within each of those age groups you’ll find, for example, a Barbie Power Wheels Jeep. Knowing which Jeep model is essential to selecting the correct battery.

How to Select the Correct Power Wheels Battery

Locate Your PW Model Number

Your Power Wheels model number could appear in one of two locations. Look inside what would be the driver side door panel or in the battery storage compartment. There should be a sticker with a prominent 5-character alphanumeric arrangement or simple 5-digit number.

I got it aleady! Take me to the most popular Barbie Batteries so I can confirm what I need and make my purchase.

Can’t Find Model Number?

If you cannot locate the sticker or it is missing or it's no longer legible the next best step is to take the existing battery out of the toy. Match the batteries color, dimensions, and connector style to one of the images below.

If you have an aftermarket battery your color may be different, but physical size and connector will be a match.

    Gray 12-Volt Battery

The all gray 12 volt Power Wheels battery is the most widely used. The Barbie Jeep has been around since Mattel introduced Power Wheels to the world. So, it should come as no surprise, this 12 volt battery fits 8 variations of the Barbie Jeep. It is important not to confuse or substitute the all grey colored battery for the gray with orange top battery. Even though they use the same probe style charger, they have different toy connectors. This makes them incompatible.
