Why Choose Impact Battery for a $150K Mission Main Street Grant?
There are many worthy organizations deserving of a Mission Main Street Grant, some perhaps more so than Impact Battery. However, we feel our unique and often scoffed at view of how businesses should operate sets us apart from the crowd.
We are committed to improving the community around us by giving generously of our resources that include time, money and knowledge. We are huge proponents of the saying teaching a person to fish vs. simply giving a person a fish. Giving a fish is easy and meets only the immediate and temporal need of the moment but providing the tools and resources to teach a person how to fish feeds them and those associated with them for a lifetime.
Our business and giving philosophy mimics this saying and the purpose behind the Mission Main Street Grants. We determined long ago that we would be world changers and to do that we needed to become active in our local community first and foremost. Our community has several needs that stand out. Two of which we feel passionate about: 1. Providing our youth with world class recreational facilities to call their own and helping to locate & train adults to take up the cause and coach. 2. Combating the sexualized culture of our youth & subsequent extreme teen pregnancy rate by supporting pregnancy help groups. We take it one step further and support public school abstinence education that covers the entire scope of how casual sexual relationships affect not only the individual person but also our culture.
We may never be the company that solves the worlds social and economic problems, but if we can make an IMPACT on just a small handful of citizens right down the road, perhaps they may go on to greater victories.
