Skull Crusher Project Visits Wildcat Adventures Off Road ATV Park
On October 29th, 2016 a contingent from Impact Battery, a sponsor of the Skull Crusher Project, headed south to showcase the souped up Arctic Cat SxS at the Wildcat Adventures and Off Road Park as part of their haunted Halloween weekend festivities. The 1800 acre park is located a few minutes from I-75 in south central Kentucky just north of London in Laurel county. The weather couldn't have been better! It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm fall day. The balmy temperatures, allure of prizes, and haunted trails teased the huge crowd of thrill seekers and dust-loven-family-focused riders. It was the perfect combination of family fun that kept a steady line of traffic late into the evening.
The Skull Crusher Project was orchestrated by Michael Ayers with Mike's Accessories. He set out to make the nicest UTV ever built. Arctic Cat donated a 2012 1000cc Wildcat side-by-side that Mike could use as his canvas. His Skull Crusher theme includes skeletons inside clear Plexiglas coffins as part of the driver and passenger seats. A custom steering wheel, skulls, bones and spiders, courtesy of SpidersOfTheWeb.com, adorn the UTV and eerily disappear in a cloud of fog.
Mike has added some eye popping features such as multi-colored LED lights, hydraulic lift kit, satellite TV and a Sony Play Station with custom painted controllers to match the haunted theme. The original Yuasa YIX30L-BS battery was removed and replaced with a MotoBatt MBTX30U which has QuadFlex terminals allowing additional connection points for some of the lesser accessories. For all the other power sucking features an additional battery tray was added. A Yellow Top OPTIMA battery was installed to manage these loads. Mike uses the MotoBatt Water Boy and Noco G3500 to keep the OPTIMA and MotoBatt battery maintained and also has a IOTA DLS-90 power supply on hand. All of the battery and charger components can be found and purchased at ImpactBattery.com.
Mike has been able to share his creation all over the SE portion of the country and recently showcased at Scare Fest in Lexington KY. Kids gravitate towards the machine and when they learn they can play on the PS4 or watch cartoons via the satellite TV they become instant fans! He has put so much time and effort into this labor of love that it is bound to haunt his thoughts for some time to come.
